The Grand Theft Auto V (GTA V) saga has come to its natural conclusion, with the release of the game’s final iteration on April 18th. Since its original 2013 release, the open world crime simulator has sold over 73 million units worldwide and received various Game of the Year and Best Game awards since its launch. After seven years and hundreds of hours of gameplay, it’s time for some reflection and (possibly) relaxation for the creators of the universe we’ve all grown to love and know so well.
The final installment in the GTA franchise, the long-awaited and much-beloved Grand Theft Auto V, is the quintessential “it” game of this generation. The first four games of the series were released on PlayStation 2 and Xbox, while the last one – a massive open world game set in Los Angeles – was exclusive to PC. The game was created by Rockstar Games, a subsidiary company of Take-Two Interactive, and released in April 2018.
Grand Theft Auto V’s Biggest Asset: The Open World
One of the standout features of Grand Theft Auto V is its open world, which was a radical departure from previous entries in the franchise. While previous games largely took place within single locations, with only occasional travel to other areas, Los Angeles is a fully explorable city-scape, filled with side-missions, story-related distractions, and endless opportunities for players to indulge in their favorite hobbies.
The open world format allowed Rockstar to introduce a much more ambitious and polished design to their games. The level of environmental detail is astounding, and players can explore every nook and cranny of the map, from the top of a skyscraper to the depths of a river below.
Additionally, due to the game’s use of console technology, which enabled Rockstar to utilize larger worlds and increase graphical fidelity, the open world in Grand Theft Auto V is quite a bit more convincing than previous games in the series. The game’s Los Angeles open world is the largest of any Rockstar game to date, and is filled with bustling streets and vibrant city life, which feel absolutely real, from the textures to the lighting effects, to the general ambiance of the area. There are many visual novel elements in the game, as well, which means that the scenery and gameplay can both be appreciated by fans of the genre.
The Most Spectacular Vehicle In Gaming History
One of the most exciting aspects of Grand Theft Auto V is the introduction of the Lamborghini Centauro, an attention-grabbing supercar that is absolutely massive, with a single cockpit behind the driver, and a single seat in front of him for a passenger. The Centauro is literally the stuff of dreams for car enthusiasts, as it combines both an extremely high level of visual impact with extreme levels of performance, handling, and comfort. The cockpit’s design is reminiscent of a steampunk fighter jet, and the whole vehicle is so gorgeous that it’s difficult to put into words the sheer feeling of awesomeness that comes with driving it. It doesn’t come as a huge surprise that the Lamborghini Centauro is one of the most prominent features of Grand Theft Auto V, since the Italian automaker has been associated with high-performance cars ever since the 1960s. More details on the amazing Lamborghini Centauro can be found on Wikipedia. This is one vehicle that every car fanatic should own.
The Most Sophisticated Audio System Ever In A Video Game
Another thing that makes Grand Theft Auto V stand out is the sound design. Similar to how the visuals are impressive, the sound design is something else, with many acclaimed audio engineers and musicians taking part in its production. The end result is one of the most sophisticated soundtracks in video game history, incorporating various instruments and sounds into an engrossing and immersive listening experience. It’s definitely one of the reasons why Grand Theft Auto V is considered among the greatest video games of all time.
Rockstar’s Undisclosed Future
Even though Grand Theft Auto V is their farewell gift to the series, it’s definitely not the end of Rockstar Games. The creator of the universe we’ve all grown to love has numerous projects in the works, including an adaptation of the critically acclaimed Life Is Beautiful for Netflix, a new installment in the Red Dead series, and an untitled open world game that will release in 2020.
Additionally, since Rockstar’s last game will be available on all major consoles, players have the opportunity to dive back into the universe they know and love while enjoying all the new additions and enhancements introduced in the seven years since the last game’s release. While it’s sad to see Grand Theft Auto V close the chapter on this generation of consoles, it’s very exciting to see the franchise continue on with Rockstar Games – hopefully, we’ll see many new adventures for the vehicles and characters we’ve come to know and love.
