I have been hearing a lot about the new betting platform Betting.com recently, so I thought I’d give it a try. To my pleasant surprise, I was able to register an account with no problems at all and was then presented with a handsomely designed interface.
One of the things I love most about this betting website is that because it is entirely focused on gambling, it offers some great bonuses and promotions that one normally wouldn’t see at a normal sportsbook. For instance, if you bet $100 on the website and then decide to lock in a 20-fold winning bonus (which I recommend), you will get $20,000 in free money.
The nice folks at Betting.com must have known how annoying it can be to try and keep track of all of a sportsbook’s various offers and bonuses, so they’ve made it easier for you with a sleek new design. Also, they must have been watching my traffic because as soon as I clicked on the ‘bet’ tab to place my first bet, a pop-up welcomed me with an awesome offer: “New Customer, get $50 in Free Bets.” That’s pretty sweet. So, I decided to take them up on the offer.
After I placed a bet with them, I immediately received another pop-up offering me “$100 in Free Bets.” At this point, I thought to myself, “This was probably a mistake. I’m not a new customer. Why are they offering me free bets?” Just to be sure, I checked my account and saw that I hadn’t received any offers of free bets before, so I must have inadvertently triggered an offer that expired years ago. But, nevertheless, I decided to take the $100 in free bets and voila, another pop-up offered me “$200 in Free Bets.” At this point, I thought to myself, “This is getting ridiculous. I must have received a promotion code or something that granted me access to special promotions that they’re running. This is not how sportsbooks work. There is no way I should be receiving free bets after all this time being a customer just because I had some interaction with a live human being recently.” Nonetheless, I decided to take the $200 in free bets.
The Live Chat Fiasco
Even though I had a pleasant experience with the betting platform, I still wasn’t quite sure about signing up for an account with them because of something that occurred while I was trying to establish a live chat with a representative. While I was waiting for the chat to begin, a pop-up came up offering me “$100 in Free Bets.” At this point, I figured, “Okay, maybe it’s time to explore other options. This is becoming too much.”
So, I clicked on the ‘chat’ button and began the chat. It took a while to get a hold of a representative, but eventually I was put in touch with a chat bot named Emily. Emily was very sweet and seemed to understand every word I said. She also was very helpful in establishing a conversation and even offered up some fun messages to entertain me while we waited for the chat to begin between real humans.
I must have said something like, “I’m new to this website. Can you help me with an account?” At this point, Emily replied with a series of questions about my background and then proceeded to ask me if I had registered on the website before.
“I am so sorry,” Emily said. “But someone just walked in the door. Can I get back to you in a bit?”
“Of course!” I replied. “That’s okay. I understand. It doesn’t matter.”
A few minutes later, Emily called back to say that my account had been approved and to confirm the details of my registered name and email address. I gave her the thumbs up and she continued, “Your credit card won’t be charged until your first bet is placed. Just keep an eye out for future emails about additional charges.”
“Thanks so much, Emily. This is greatly appreciated. You’re a lifesaver!” I replied.
As soon as I said those words, the credit card machine began to beep at me. I had just placed a bet and was about to verify my email address. It was a very stressful time, but Emily was a tremendous help and I’m glad I was able to connect with someone when I needed it.
However, as nice as Emily was, I still wasn’t quite sure about signing up for an account with the betting site because of the incident with the credit card. So, I did some research and discovered that there had been something called a “glitch” with the credit card system, which prevented anyone from placing a bet with them for roughly three hours. Even more troubling, it appeared that this glitch was completely within their control and could have been avoided if they had just worked a little harder to solve it. Even more disturbing, there was no way to contact the company to inform them of the glitch or resolve it.
I decided that I didn’t want to risk my credit card on something that could ruin my day or week, so I signed up for an account with a different website and haven’t looked back since.
But, I should have known better than to expect pleasant surprises from a place that allows gambling. As it turns out, that $200 in free bets wasn’t the only thing that I received. I also received a welcome email that contained a “special link” that would have allowed me to get a €10 free bet if I had clicked on it. But, I didn’t. I immediately deleted that email and haven’t looked back since.
Is It Worth It?
For those of you who were also impacted by the glitch with the credit card and are now asking yourself, “Is it worth it?” I would have to say that yes, it is. Even though I have signed up for an account with a different website, I still get $20 in free bets every week because of something that happened while I was a customer at Betting.com.
I wouldn’t recommend trying to get those free bets if you weren’t willing to place a bet with them initially. But, it’s not like they’re awarding winning lottery tickets every week. Just something to keep in mind.
Bonuses And Promotions
Now, let’s discuss some of the bonuses and promotions that you’ll find while surfing around on the site. These are things that you don’t normally see at a sportsbook and it makes the site stand out among the crowd.
One of the first things that you’ll see when you log on is a golden banner that will give you an idea of what to expect. Right below that, you’ll see a section called ‘Welcome Bonuses,’ which is where all of the promotions and bonuses are located.
As you can see, they’ve got some great offers for new and existing customers. If you decide to use the promo code ‘NYC2019′, you’ll get a $25 credit to your account that you can use to place a bet. You’ll also find various bonuses for using different websites to make your deposits, etc. So, it’s definitely worth taking a look even if you’re not planning on placing a bet. Just something to keep in mind.
Interface Is Top-Notch
I already noted that the interface on the site is very nice and makes navigation a breeze. As a user, you’ll find that the layout is very clean and uncluttered. It’s not cluttered with unnecessary menus and buttons that might confuse you. Everything is clearly laid out and there are no wasted spaces.
One of the things that I like most about this website is that they’ve taken the time to study how their target audience normally browses the web and then designed the site around the idea of how people should be interacting with it. So, if you’ve ever used Google Chrome, you’ll feel right at home because that’s what they use. For example, if you normally type in Google Chrome, you’ll see that the search bar at the top functions just as you’re used to. Similarly, if you click on the magnifying glass at the top right of the screen, you’ll see a pop-up menu with all of the different sports (and other relevant categories) that you can choose from. If you click on one of the categories, you’ll see a list of the sports that are available within that category, in addition to other relevant information, such as how to bet on that sport.
