When Will Sports Betting Be Legal in Arizona?

For the avid sports bettor, it’s almost inevitable that one day the laws will catch up with sports gambling. At least that’s what happens to us bookmakers. The fact is, if you’re gonna be doing the books anyway, it’s only a matter of time before the law catches up and makes you legal what you’ve been doing all along. Until then, you’re just doing it illegally. But that doesn’t mean it’s not fun. It just means you have to be a little smarter about how you’re doing it. That’s how most of us sports bettors exist. We’re smarter about it than the average person, so we don’t get caught. But eventually, someone’s gonna come knocking, and when they do, we’re gonna be prepared to give it up. That’s why we love a wager on sports. It’s a cat and mouse game, and we love playing the mouse. As long as you stay one step ahead of the law, you’re gonna have a blast.

When Will Arizona Legalize Sports Betting?

When Will Arizona Legalize Sports Betting?

It’s no secret that Arizona is a hub for sports betting. Not only is it home to some of the most popular sports, but a large number of bookmakers have established offices there, and many others have gambling sites that are more popular than the State itself. With gambling being officially illegal in most parts of the country, particularly in light of the recent federal government crackdown, it’s no wonder that many people are wondering when exactly Arizona will legalize sports betting. After all, with so much money to be made, it’s only a matter of time before the law catches up.

But while it’s likely that Arizona will eventually legalize sports betting, it may not happen anytime soon. For one thing, a 2010 Public Policy Poll found that 64% of Arizonans supported legalized sports betting, while only 32% were opposed. And while there was a slight majority of support in some demographic groups (70% among men and women aged 30-49), there was still a sizeable opposition from people aged 18-29 (45%). And while there is little doubt that things have changed somewhat since then, particularly with younger people being more in favor of sports gambling compared to the general public, it’s fair to say that this is still a heavily polarized issue in the State.

Why Shouldn’t Arizona Legalize Sports Betting?

Why Shouldn’t Arizona Legalize Sports Betting?

In the eyes of many in the sports betting community, legalizing sports betting in Arizona would be a monumental step forward. After all, many people in favor of legal sports betting believe it would provide a safe and welcoming environment for people to engage in legal sports betting, and it would certainly be a step in the right direction. But while some may feel that legalized sports betting in Arizona would be a good idea, there are several reasons why it may not happen.

For starters, even if the State wanted to legalize sports betting, it may not be able to. For the purposes of this article, we’ll assume that the State does in fact want to legalize sports betting, which leaves us with two possibilities. The first is that the State passes a law legalizing sports betting, only to have the courts overturn it. The second is that the Federal authorities decide to step in and shut down the entire industry, thus rendering any kind of legalization impossible.

Either way, it seems pretty clear that sports betting in some form will exist in Arizona, whether officially or unofficially. Which brings us to another reason why it may not happen.

Considering all of the above, it’s clear that we don’t know exactly when Arizona will legalize sports betting. However, because things are likely to happen at a glacial pace, we can make some educated guesses. It will probably begin with the courts, as they have the power to make a lot of noise and force the government’s hand in such situations. But even when Arizona courts make rulings in favor of legalization, it may not be applied retroactively, thus leaving the current status quo largely unchanged. And while it’s true that most people in our community would prefer to see a ruling in favor of legalization before anything else happens, it’s important to keep in mind that this is a minority opinion, and this opinion may be swayed from the top down. In other words, it’s likely that the people with the most influence will try to sway the courts in favor of keeping things as they are. After all, they have a lot to lose if sports betting is legalized. They’re the people who would be competing with the books for business, and not everyone is a fan of gambling, even if it’s legal.

In the meantime, for the avid sports bettor, there are several ways in which we can make the most of the time that is still available to us. First of all, we can take advantage of the fact that we’re still allowed to make bets. While the courts may have thrown out past cases involving sports gambling, it doesn’t mean that those involved still can’t benefit from what they learned. As long as you stay one step ahead of the law, you’re gonna have a blast. And that is exactly what we are going to do. We are going to keep on gaming, and we are going to make the most of every opportunity we have until sports betting is made legal in Arizona.
