Which Betting Games Are the Most Like Football? – Statistics That Matter

The National Football League (NFL) is one of the most popular sports leagues in the world, attracting huge audiences on TV and online.

While the NFL is known for its action-packed games and star-studded rosters, it’s not always the most predictable of sports. After all, you wouldn’t put money on the game itself. You’d rather bet on the outcome.

This is especially true when comparing sports betting to the more traditional bets you might make on a game. For instance, if you had bet that the New York Jets would cover the point spread in their game against the Buffalo Bills, you’d likely feel very disappointed.

Which NFL Teams Are Most Like Football Teams?

The most straightforward way to analyze which NFL teams are most alike real-life football teams is through direct comparison of their records. In the table below, we’ve ranked all 32 NFL teams according to the ratio of games won to total games played. (games without results were excluded from this statistic in order to avoid inflated scores for teams that didn’t play very many games)

Note: We’ve only included data up till the end of the 2016 season in this table, as there are some changes in NFL team lineups and records since then that may influence which teams are most similar. However, we will continue to update this table as more data becomes available.

Looking at the data, you’ll note that the Oakland Raiders rank first in the least-to-most games ratio category, winning 75% of their games compared to the amount of games they’ve played. (1-16) The defending Super Bowl champions are doing everything in their power to make sure that the 2017 season is a monumental success and are looking to repeat their championship run in the near future.

On the other hand, the Buffalo Bills rank last in the least-to-most games ratio category, winning only 27% of their games compared to the amount of games they’ve played. (31-40) Despite the presence of quarterback AJ McCarron, the Bills have struggled mightily this season, failing to make the playoffs for a fourth consecutive year.

While some may regard the Buffalo Bills as a bit of an underachiever, outside of football, they’ve actually achieved a lot. The Buffalo Museum of Natural History, for example, is one of the largest and most comprehensive natural history museums in the world. It houses a private collection of fossils, minerals, and live animals.
