Who’s Your Favorite NFL Betting Line?

The lines are officially set for the 2019 NFL season. And while some may consider this to be the end of the line and the beginning of the ‘Off-Season,’ the reality is that the season is still more than a month away.

It’s an exciting time. Especially for NFL enthusiasts who follow the odds and the trends. Just like baseball enthusiasts follow their team’s performance throughout the year, so too do football fans follow the lines. Especially since betting online became so accessible and affordable. With online handicappers and betting sites offering in-game betting and live betting, gamblers have a variety of options at their fingertips. Especially when it comes to following the NFL.

Which NFL Betting Line Are You Most Likely To Use?

That depends on your financial situation. If you’re feeling particularly adventurous, you might want to consider placing a wager on the Superbowl. Or if you’re looking for a more conservative approach, you might consider backing the New England Patriots. Since 1992, the Patriots have not lost a Superbowl bet. And you can’t go wrong with the defending champs.

There are many different betting options. And each option has its perks and quirks. So if you want to follow the NFL, you shouldn’t have any trouble finding the perfect betting line for your needs. Whether you’re a seasoned sports bettor or you’ve never placed a wager in your life, odds are there’s an NFL betting line that will suit you.

Here are some of the most popular choices when it comes to placing wagers on the NFL.

New England Patriots +7,5

The defending champion New England Patriots open as a 7.5-point favorite against the visiting Miami Dolphins in Week 1. Not a bad omen for the defending champs. Especially since this line has been rising steadily for the past few weeks. The Patriots are a 13-point favorite over the Dolphins just two weeks ago. But with injuries and recent performances that left a lot to be desired, the line has shifted in favor of the visitors. It’s hard to bet against the defending champions. Especially when it comes to the Patriots.

The Patriots are 16-2 ATS (against the spread) this year. And with QB Tom Brady returning from a four-game suspension, they’re arguably the greatest threat to blow out the records for most wins and most consecutive wins in the NFL. Currently the Patriots have a 1,367-day winning streak. And if they want to keep that winning streak alive, they’ll have to deal with a Miami team that is 4-13 ATS this season. Last year the Patriots beat the Dolphins 41-33 in the regular season opener. But that was then and this is now. So even though the defending champions are still the favorites, it’s only a matter of time until the line tips in favor of the visitors.

Cincinnati Bengals +3,5

The Bengals opened as a 3.5-point favorite against the visiting Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 1. And with good reason. Although the Steelers are an extremely talented team, the Bengals are one of the most complete teams in the NFL. And that shows in the win-loss record. Since 1998, the Bengals are 45-23-2 ATS (against the spread). Which is the equivalent of 888-1,385 straight winning bets. It should come as no surprise, then, that Cincinnati is the 1st half of a double-header this Sunday. The 2nd half of the game will pit them against the Steelers. Who, by the way, have the 2nd worst attendance in the NFL. Meaning that relatively fewer people will be looking at the game than usual. Which could make for some rather chaotic and/or boring football. Especially if both teams pull off perfect performances.

The Bengals are coming off a win last week over the Dolphins. Although that was close, the score didn’t show how one-sided that game was. The Dolphins scored twice in the last 6:35 to cut the lead to 29-27. There were several fights and scuffles at the end as well. Which indicates how physical this game is going to be. Especially since these are two of the most physical teams in the NFL. The Bengals are ranked 4th in the NFL in terms of sacks with 41. And the Steelers are 6th with 41 sacks. This is clearly going to be a chess match between the two. Rather than a football game. Which can be a good or bad thing, depending on how you look at it.

Jacksonville Jaguars +6

The defending division champs, the Jaguars, opened at a surprising 6 points against the visiting Houston Texans in Week 1. The Texans are a powerful team. They came within a hair’s width of knocking off the Jaguars in last year’s AFC championship game. Although they lost, the defense scored a touchdown in the last five seconds to tie the game. Jacksonville has not been an easy team to bet against. Since 1998, they are 61-36-2 ATS (against the spread). In other words, you’re almost guaranteed a winning bet if you back the Jags. Especially when they’re playing at home. Where they’re 7-1 ATS (against the spread) this year. The Jags have a new look this year. And while many may not like the new direction the team took, it’s hard not to like the results. Led by rookie quarterback Gardner Mcelhinney, who threw for 373 yards and 4 touchdowns, the Jags could be a dangerous team to face in the coming weeks.

Tennessee Titans +7

After last year’s disappointing 8-8 campaign, the Tennessee Titans are coming off a 4-12 season. So it should come as no surprise that the team is a popular 7-point underdog against the visiting Washington Redskins in Week 1. Although they haven’t quite hit the jackpot yet, the Titans have been very lucrative for bettors. Since 1998, they are 53-37 ATS (against the spread). In other words, if you want to back the Titans, you’re more likely to win than lose. Especially since they haven’t been a popular team to bet against. The Redskins are also coming off a 4-12 season, but they have QB Kirk Cousins, who threw for 4,042 yards and 27 touchdowns last year. So it’s safe to assume that a lot of people have placed bets on the Redskins. Which makes them a popular pick this year. Especially since they’ll be playing at home where they’re 4-1 ATS (against the spread) this year. This game has the potential to be highly entertaining. Especially since these are the two best offenses in the NFL. The Redskins lead the league in both total yards (8,979) and scoring (55.6 points per game). And the Titans lead the league in both interceptions (25) and fumble recoveries (13).
